Poor Garruk. As if being cursed by Liliana and the Chain Veil wasn't bad enough, upon his arrival to Eldraine, the whimsical and sinister Oko warped the hunter's mind even further, using him as a tool to topple the Kenrith monarchy. Garruk hunted the twin prince and princess Kenrith on Oko's request, and just as it seemed like he had them, a large monster emerged from one of the plane's wildland rivers, engaging the cursed planeswalker.

Garruk won the battle against the tentacled beast, but his exhaustion lead him to collapse in the river. As he sank to his death, Will Kenrith, suspecting Garruk's actions were influenced by outside sources, attempted to pull the hulking figure out. Will's rescue attempt was unsuccessful, but the selfless act summoned the Cauldron of Eternity which not only saved them, but removed both of Garruk's curses.
