Before there was Oko, there was Jace, the Mind Sculptor. It's rare for a format to truly have a deck where you either play it, or lose to it, but Jace along with Stoneforge Mystic were the foundation of Caw-Blade - one of the most dominant Standard decks in Magic's history. The Mind Sculptor wasn't done there though. He got himself banned in Modern and was one of the more oppressive threats in Legacy and Vintage.
